The Critical Path Method (CPM) is a project management tool used to identify the longest path of tasks that must be completed to finish a project. PERT, or Program Evaluation and Review Technique, differs from CPM in its use of probabilistic estimates for task durations. Both are used for project scheduling. CCPM, or Critical Chain Project Management, differs from CPM in its focus on resource constraints and buffer times. PERT/CPM finds the critical path to optimize project timelines.
